Welcome to 5th Grade!
Hello and welcome to fifth grade! My name is Ms. Ray, and I’m so excited to be your 5th Grade Teacher here at Mirage Elementary School!
I graduated from Grand Canyon University with a Bachelor’s degree in Educational Studies and earned my Master’s in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University. Teaching is my passion, and I’m thrilled to share this school year with you and your child!
My three daughters and I are proud Arizona natives. We love escaping the heat by heading north to enjoy cooler weather. In our free time, we enjoy traveling, spending weekends at the beach, hanging out at the pool, visiting the local library, crafting, playing board and card games, camping, and playing volleyball at the park. Family time is very important to us!
In our classroom, we will work together to create a community where everyone feels welcome, safe, respected, and valued. We will focus on collaboration, communication, kindness, perseverance, and taking ownership of our learning. Fifth grade is an exciting year filled with new challenges, opportunities to grow, and plenty of chances to discover what we are capable of!
Our learning will be hands-on, engaging, and connected to the real world. Students will be encouraged to think critically, ask questions, solve problems, communicate their ideas, and learn from one another. We will make connections across subjects including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies through meaningful projects, discussions, and real-world learning experiences.
Most importantly, I want students to know that growth matters more than perfection. Mistakes are part of learning, challenges help us grow, and every student has something valuable to contribute to our classroom community.
I’m looking forward to an amazing year filled with growth, curiosity, creativity, teamwork, and discovery!
